Cholesterol is a waxy substance and is important part of every cell of the body. It is produced naturally by the liver. It helps making vitamin D and creation of some hormones, create bile salts which helps in digestion of fats. Actually our own liver produce enough cholesterol for the body but food containing cholesterol creates access of it in the body which becomes dangerous and create many health problems like heart disease. Extra cholesterol can deposit in the arteries and can lead to blocked arteries. If arteries are blocked then blood supply to the heart gets blocked and heart attack occur. There are two types of cholesterol, one bad cholesterol and second one is good cholesterol. The bad one is known as LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) and good one is known as HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) The bad cholesterol tends to block arteries and good cholesterol helps in cleaning up the bad cholesterol in the arteries.
